Have Compassion for yourself

It is sort of like the chicken and the egg.

Do I have compassion for myself first or do I have compassion for all life in the universe first?

The real answer is: "You cannot have one without the other!"

The beginning of having compassion for yourself comes from realizing that every being in the universe is suffering just as much as you are. Realizing this you begin to feel as sorry for everyone else as you do yourself. Then if one is mature enough in their thinking it goes something like this: "Since I suffer and they suffer this is a bond of suffering kindred spirits. Maybe I can help them and they can help me or maybe I can help me by helping them. Or maybe by helping them I can heal my own hurts. Or maybe by healing my own hurts I will be nicer to others.

This is the way compassion begins in people who are evolved enough in their thinking.

The self is the other and the other is the self and this circle goes round and round and round.

Yes. I must take care of myself or I cannot take care of anyone else. But, if I take care of others am I not also beginning to take care of myself? So, having compassion for yourself is a part of taking care of others and having compassion for others is a part of taking care of yourself.

So, have compassion for yourself and save the world!

Compassion for yourself is ultimately powerful too! If I am compassionate towards myself and all others I might say to myself, "I really would like this new job or car or vacation." Then because I value myself because I not only take care of myself I think, "Because I am helpful to all beings I will reward myself with this car, or this vacation or even this new job. So then because I feel good about myself because I am helpful to myself and others I can give myself all these good things and I can even enjoy them because I am a good and helpful person to myself and to others. Then when I receive these good things I say, "Thank you God for Blessing my life in these amazing wonderful ways!" This can go on and on and on into infinity if  you wish both while you are alive and even after you pass on into a heaven realm from the good works you do for others and for yourself.
