"Pussy Riot: a Punk Prayer" is a documentary about Pussy Riot which is a feminist shock rock group in Russia. Two of the members of the group are currently serving 2 years each in prison for playing a rock concert illegally in one of Moscow's large Christian Cathedrals. As an American you will understand why they are doing this and why this is necessary for them.
I expected this documentary to be really one sided but was quietly surprised at how it shows in a somewhat balanced way what is actually going on in Russia. Pussy Riot was formed the Day Putin returned for the second time as leader of Russia and the day when thousands of Russians angrily demonstrated against Putin's return. Watching this documentary will make you understand more about what is actually happening in Russia politically in the last few years.
