The Desertification of parts of the U.S.?

The states mentioned in the Dust Bowl Scenario in a previous article at this blog are:
begin partial quote:
Which seven states? 24/7 Wall Street lists them (percentage of the state already in a severe drought):
1) Nebraska (100%)
2) Kansas (96.4%)
3) New Mexico (89.9%)
4) Colorado (89.0%)
5) South Dakota (86.3%)
6) Wyoming (83.7%)
7) Oklahoma (83.2%)
NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center made its annual drought report public last week. On top of those seven states, it warns those living in Texas and the Pacific Northwest to expect far less rainfall than last year, as should California, the southern Rockies and the Florida panhandle.

However, basically almost every state(in the lower 48) west of  and including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota are expected to experience drought conditions to lower rainfalls than normal this summer if climate scientists are right.

For example, here in California where I live in our area at least rainfall is somewhat normal because in November, December and January we sometimes thought the whole state was going to float away in so much rain and water and flooding and potential flooding but there hasn't been much rain since March unless it was mostly drizzle along the coast from fog. So by May and June most of the wild oats in wilder areas and farmlands was already turning from green to brown which is unusual most years. Most years we get much more of our rain from March to June but this year that rain didn't come very much at all. So, though we a not exactly in a drought we are in an unusual rain pattern for Northern California.
