This has been one of the most beautiful days this year! I walked along the beach today and the weather was idyllic even though the water was cold like it normally is this time of year. The breakers (waves) were breaking outside at about 5 to 8 feet which also was impressive. However, the big waves brought in a lot of the kelp beds onto the beaches. The kelp attach themselves to bigger rocks on the bottom and then move up growing sort of like underwater trees. So, as a swimmer or a diver you have to go either over the top of them or underneath them but never through them. A lot of less trained swimmers and divers used to panic a lot because they didn't know this about kelp. But, if you ever are swimming or diving in kelp remember go over it or under it but never through it because your tanks and regulators and air hose might get tangled.
The weather is idyllic but in a drought like this it is worrying for the whole state of California. we really need a good rain. We had a great drizzle a few days ago but that is more common along the coast with moisture coming in on clouds and fog some of the time. What I find kind of funny and unusual is that San Diego is colder than us and Los Angeles is only 1 degree hotter than us.
