The causes started in Syria with putting down (killing and torturing) Sunnis. This pissed off Sunnis all over the world. So, when the Islamic State (Isis) became effective at killing Shiites (all Shiites) people who are Sunnis (individuals) started sending money to the Islamic State (ISIS). So, the Islamic State was caused by people killing and torturing Sunnis, not by Obama or anyone else really except maybe Assad, and supported by Iran and Russia.
It is important to understand that in every Sunni Ruled nation in the middle east there are some people contributing to ISIS (The Islamic State in various ways).
So, to solve the problem of the Islamic State, the only way is for there to be Peace towards most Sunnis everywhere in the Middle East. Otherwise, this whole thing is going to go on for years and years.
The Islamic State won't end until there is peace for Sunnis and revenge for those already killed who are Sunnis in the Middle East.
To think otherwise is to be very very naive about what actually is going on there.
