The reason for this is getting rich, (if that is your only goal) is very selfish (unless you are doing this to help all others in your life). So, without some kind of benevolent approach to your lives being rich is actually in some ways worse than being poor. Because if you are selfish you can't help but feeling guilty then about being rich. However, if you work on becoming benevolent as a person, being benevolent to others (as long as it is safe to do this) is Being "The Gift that keeps on Giving". So, in this benevolent frame of mind you can become sort of an instrument of God helping mankind not to go extinct.
And this I think IS a worthwhile goal in life to help mankind who gave you life and an education in the first place.
