You don't Have to become diabetic by the way if you find this out soon enough. I found this out from tests taken during my burst Appendix and laparoscopic surgery and while being in the hospital 5 days for recovery after not finding out what was wrong with me for 7 days or longer. My immune system was too strong to have the normal symptoms of a fever or an elevated white cell count like most people have these days when their appendix bursts. So, even though I went into the hospital the night my appendix burst they couldn't define it and called it instead "Acute Gastritis" which wasn't a correct diagnosis.
However, if you have been diagnosed as pre-diabetic you that isn't a death sentence or one where you are going to go blind and have to cut off your feet or legs or something like that.
One of the first things you can do is to give up all Soft drinks and all fruit juices.
The second thing you can do is to give up things like rice mostly because it converts to sugar at a much higher rate than Gluten does in your body.
I had been gluten free for 2 or 3 years and realized that likely even though it reduced my physical pain from my muscles by 80% to 90% it was likely slowly also making me prediabetic as well. So, be careful if you go gluten free you don't wind up becoming diabetic from the much higher rice conversion to sugar in your body.
So, here is where to start: You cannot drink any fruit juices at all because they are concentrated Fructose. There almost isn't any way to put more sugar in your body at one time than drinking fruit juices.
However, in most cases you can still eat fruit as long as it is whole fruit especially things like Apples, Blueberries, raspberries, boysenberries and things like this. Apples keep you regular and blueberries are good for your brain.
You can also eat any fruit you want usually (talk to your doctor about this) as long as you are only eating one fruit (not juiced) per day. So, you can usually have a papaya, a mango, a banana, or any other fruit as long as you are only eating that fruit about once a day.
Most people tend to go more paleo when they find out about becoming pre-diabetic which means they eat more fish and meats. However, if your arteries are already clogged from eating too much red meat and fats already you need to think about how you are going to handle this too. I'm nervous about fish myself because I have heard of people getting lead or mercury poisoning when they eat too much fish. Then they have to go through expensive chelation processes under a doctors care to get rid of the lead or mercury residing in their tissues of their bodies.
So, these are some basic ideas for NOT getting diabetes ever.
Because once you do a whole lot of other problems are possible in your life as well.
So, if you are vigilant and observant you don't ever have to get diabetes even if you have been diagnosed as pre-diabetic as you can see. But, you have to be disciplined enough to change your diet to stay healthy.
