Be careful if you are traveling anywhere in the Southwest U.S. tomorrow!

Why?

These are some of the expected temperatures expected Monday:

Los Angeles 100 degrees Fahrenheit
Palm Springs123 degrees
Las Vegas     115 degrees
Phoenix        115
Tucson          112
Even in the sf bay area
Morgan Hill 90 degrees
Boulder Creek 90

Sacramento   96
Redding         92
Even Portland Oregon is 80
and Ashland is 82

New Mexico
Albuquerque 100
Santa Fe          90

I have actually been in Palm Springs in temperatures from 117 to 120 and basically when I got out of my car to get gasoline it was a lot like getting into an oven while I gassed up my car there at that time.

Be sure to leave your window or windows open a crack in temperatures above 90 to 100 because otherwise it will blow out your back window from the heat or one of your windows. Also remember your kids and pets cannot survive in the car tomorrow in the southwest if you leave them there  in the heat (or other friends or relatives) while parked without air conditioner on.

This summer might be one for the record books worldwide it appears heat wise.

Also, it might be important to note that Palm Springs is known for temperatures like this but only in August or September (not in June). And some years it never gets above 115 to 117.

I stayed in Gila Bend on a mining expedition when I was 27 in 1975 with my father and a back hoe operator from Arizona doing essaying work for 2 or 3 days without air conditioning in 120 degree or more weather. When I thought I was going to pass out from the heat I would wet my t-shirt from water from a well that smelled like sulphur that existed so birds and animals wouldn't die without water in the desert there. And then I put my t-shirt on and rode my Honda 250 XL Dualsport down the dry wash to try to cool down before I passed out from the heat. So, at 6 am each day was the coolest at about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Without air conditioning expect to have a headache or worse in situations like this if you want to survive them. So, plan ahead for you and families and all your pets and friends especially if you have to face above 100 degree weather without air conditioning.
