I was watching a special I DVRed on PBS I think Saturday night of Joan Baez's 75th birthday celebration and realized how important Grace is in each of our lives.
If you go back in time Joan Baez and Bob Dylan were friends way back when and were supportive to each other's ideas. And so as I watched Joan Baez now at 75 sing with many of the old and popular singers of the 60s and 70s now it took me back to how I survived these times and the only word that came to me was Grace.
I think of all those who died or were maimed or went insane from various causes from those days and I feel very lucky indeed to have lived through it all to today. All the many many people dead now or no longer with us in spirit or mind because of those days and all the changes.
One could say that change is even more difficult to deal with now than then. This might be true but now it is in an entirely different way. With all the problems we still had hope then whereas some people now on earth have no hope at all. Religion has failed them, government has failed them, their parents have failed them, their employers have failed them, even for some their friends have failed them and they find themselves destitute in many ways.
There have been many times in my life where I felt like that too. But, always God saw me through to a better day. Many many nights during my life that I begged God for death and to let me go. But then I would wake up in the morning finding some new way to go on with my life.
So, what saw me through all these many crazy times here on earth?
God's Grace always came through for me eventually. It wasn't always in my own timing but eventually it all worked out.
So, what do you need to do when life and God covers you and you don't die? Be Grateful.
Because gratitude is the motor of life which will bring to you more and more grace in your life over time.
The glass is NOT half empty it is at least half full every day. Every day there is hope and there is also the potential for Grace.
And if you are grateful for the grace given (even if it isn't in your timing or understanding) you can be alive still here at 68 like I am with still an amazing life and adventures moving your life forward still.
Learn to be grateful for both little things and big things in your life. Gratitude and Grace are the true motors of life!
Without these life can end very suddenly. I have seen it thousands of times so far. So, learn gratitude which brings even more Grace into your lives. Your life depends upon it more than you presently know.
