Is it important to believe in UFOs for your ongoing survival here on earth?

I would say yes.

But, what I think is important is it's even more important to believe in Time Travel in that it takes place in the past, present and future all the time to the point where all we have is our memories because the past, present and future really doesn't resemble anything in the history books on any level at all.

So, yes, believing in UFOs is important to your physical and psychological and emotional and even spiritual survival here on earth. But understanding that time and space isn't at all what you thought it was simply because UFOs travel both time and space when they travel on earth or other places too.

So, you are thinking linear while they are thinking multi-dimensional. If you don't think multi-dimensional too then you have already lost the game of life before you have begun it.

Though the movie Tenet(2020) is hypothetical it will begin to train your mind to real possibilities of what we are actually dealing with (even though this is slightly different than what is actually going on). But, it at least takes you in somewhat of a useful direction to deal with reality. (As it actually exists) and not the linear one we all believe in that isn't real.

However, unless you have studied science some it might be hard to fathom all these things.

When I was growing up my favorite subject was science and then my father who was an electrician taught me to be an electrician. So, I likely understand many aspects of science better than the average person because of all this. However, testing reality is important to be able to fathom things like this in your life. In other words it is just as dangerous as believing in fantasy as to be ignorant of UFOs entirely. Both are equally dangerous to your survival long term. This is why it's important how you approach all this. Though UFOs are real, more can always be learned about them sort of like as you visit foreign countries you learn more about the countries you visit.

Imagine you live in an amazon rain forest and your tribe has no science knowledge at all and you see jet airliners flying overhead and your local shaman says that you shouldn't look at them because of one reason or another. This is basically where the human race is right now. Could a Jet airliner crash and you find it? maybe. It's exactly the same thing with UFOs. they are real but what is the likelihood that you will see one in the sky or that one will crash that you can see it? Here's the best answer: "How many times have you personally ever seen any plane crash?" Probably zero statistically speaking in real life. Same with a UFO.
