An Actual Metaverse will not be formed likely by any one company

For example, Home computers were sort of like how Airplanes started with the Wright brothers and then everyone and their little brother starting building stuff in their garage and designing new things including Stephen Jobs and Steve Wozniak. And also Bill Gates bought software  in Pacific Grove, California then slightly reworked it (CPM) and sold some of the rights  (but not all of them) to IBM. Because he kept the initial rights to license his software for anyone (not just IBM) Microsoft made a killing economically because no one had ever done something like this before. Regarding Hardware there were many  companies like Apple and others. Though there was an IBM Home Computer it became the basis of IBM Clones which then were made all over the world by countless companies making chips and components. My first home computer was 800 dollars in 1978 from Radio Shack and only had 4K of memory and you stored your programs you wrote yourself on cassette tape. So, when you turned off the computer everything died inside and you had to play the cassette tapes back into the computer when you turned it back on and there was no printer at first either.

The point I'm trying to make here is home computers and the Internet came from many many different people and companies around the world. Some few of those companies are still with us but most are gone now except for companies like Microsoft, Apple and a few others.

The Metaverse has to be seen as something that started likely with Darpa in some ways with redundant mainframes in case of nuclear war to rebuild cities up from nothing. Servers follow this same blue print in many ways and will be the core of the metaverse as it is built from now on worldwide.

But, Facebook or any other company might be a part of it but will never be all of it because it won't build right just being any one company because what it will be is too diverse for that ongoing. So, the metaverse (to be successful) will come from hundreds and likely thousands of separate companies at least at first. And those who can create a niche market for whatever they sell will be around the longest.

In other words, Facebook or META might or might not even be around 10 years from now we just have to wait and see.
