There are many ways to prevent human extinction. The main problem we face is global warming caused by CO2 emissions and 25%of that problem is Methane from human and animal excrement both CO2 and Methane cause problems in the upper atmosphere which move all humans at least to extinction likely this century otherwise.
Ecologists often want to solve the problem by not using any oil or coal or by stopping burning anything that could cause CO2.
However, I don't think that is practical even in the most advanced nations and not practical at all in ANY 3rd world nations.
I have traveled the world and if you force people not to burn anything then 3/4 of the people on earth would die in winters just from freezing to death or exposure to various kinds of weather.
I remember staying with a Sherpa Family with my family at Tarkey Gyan in the Helambu District of Nepal. They didn't even own a heater of any kind and the only way you got warm was under blankets or from the fires that they cooked with in the middle of the living room. The smoke went up and out the eves of the house and roof so the main roof rafters were black with smoke from the last 50 years or so.
A lot of the world, "Even when it is snowing"like it was that day outside at around 9000 foot or 10,000 feet elevation there was no specific wood heater of any kind only a way to cook over and open fire in the middle of the living room.
This surprised me a lot at the heartiness of the Sherpa people. To me, it was a little like camping out in the snow only inside with my family. Luckily, I was 37 and very healthy and we had already hiked trekked about 25 miles to get there already. So, we were just happy to be out of the snow and warm enough to survive all this in our adventure. But, I couldn't even imagine living like this year around in the Himalayas.
The point I'm trying to make here is you are not going to get everyone on earth to stop burning things in order to at the very least cook their food.
This is why I believe Geo engineering is actually the ONLY way humans will be able to survive past this century and why I have become an advocate in this direction.
It's "Any Port in a Storm!"
IF you are threatened (your life or humanity) you have to do whatever it takes then to survive whatever you face.
If you don't you are just dead and that's all she wrote!
