What was the main thing that the 1950s taught me about survival? Patience

There was no internet then. There weren't answers to most questions then. If I had a question I had to get on my bicycle from about 5 to 8 years old and ride to the library to ask my question of a librarian or to research the answer to my question. And even if I did all this I had about a 50% chance of getting any meaningful answer to my question.

There is a saying: "All good things come to he who waits."

This is about patience. And survival is mostly about waiting for the opportunities so you can survive whatever you are going through right then. So, the most important component here is to be observant while you are waiting so you can actually use whatever opportunities that come along while you are waiting for your best future.

But, if you don't have the patience to wait then you don't survive at all.
