Why is believing in God important to me?

If I hadn't believed in God I would have been dead by 10 to 15 years of age. I wasn't given proper medical care for a concussion. I wasn't even taken to a doctor by my Dad for 3 years and only then because I was having night time seizures from ages 10 to 15. So, the first time he took me to a doctor I was 12 years old and the injury occurred when I was 9 years old. Even then the doctor didn't know what to do for me other than give me a B-12 shot in my rear end because he was worried I was anemic because I was a vegetarian which was very rare in the 1950s then. Vegetarianism didn't become common until the late 1960s and early 1970s even in Los Angeles, California where I lived from 1954 until 1969.

So, believing in God was how I found a way to stay alive without proper medical intervention into what I was experiencing. It was the only thing I had to calm myself down when most people would have thought they were dying. Instead at the time I wondered why God was killing me.

But, by age 15 I had made peace with God and began to understand my place in the world and how God had designed me to help the people around me in many healing ways.

By God's Grace
