China is battling one of its worst outbreaks of the year in Xi'an, a city 600 miles southwest of Beijing, where 13 million residents are currently on lockdown.

Perhaps it was naive to expect that China's rigid approach to fighting Covid-19 complete with locking down millions of people and using invasive surveillance to keep tabs on citizens would not eventually cause problems for the host of the 2022 amid an ongoing global pandemic, according to CNN.

However, the long-term strategy will continue to slow economic growth and potentially stir social unrest. Last week the World Bank cut growth forecasts for China, citing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and poor performance in the property sector.

Remember, often we think of China being a 1st world nation but in reality it is a 1st world nation ONLY for about 300 million Chinese who are middle Class or above. So, it is more useful to view China as a 1st world nation, a 2nd world nation and a 3rd world nation all at once. So, most people aren't used to dealing fully with a country like this that has been this way for 6000 years already.

Most of the middle Class or Above are either members of the Communist party or related to someone who is. People not members of the Communist party tend to be much poorer because of this nationwide.

So, even if you fight like hell Omicron in places like Xi'an out in the country various places with less law present are going to be an Omicron mess ongoing that China will likely refuse to ever talk about or write about. And it is in these little country hamlets with little or no Government present that is where Omicron is going to spread and spread and spread just like everywhere else on earth.
