Hurricanes don't usually come above the Mexican border into California

 However, the rains from hurricanes do especially this year and this has greatly helped areas from San Diego North to about San Luis Obsipo and you can see it in the trees in how green they are compared to further north. 

California is so very large

I went to Google maps and charted from San Diego to Yreka, California and this is 759.9 miles by the way. So, South to north California is one of the largest states in the U.S.
 
IN fact if you take the coastal route from the Mexico Border to Oregon Border it is:

However, I'm thinking that with 

global warming there might come a time when hurricanes hit San Diego and Los Angeles more regularly at the very least.

However, it is likely also true that during this same time Florida likely will become an island archipeligo too.

So, I'm thinking that both these things likely will happen sometime during the next century or less for both places.
