If you are able to be logical and pragmatic enough the previous article can be very helpful

Luckily, I was raised by people with common sense and logic in their lives. They were very religious and didn't smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol. In fact, they didn't even eat meat or fish even in the 1950s when I grew up. So, I learned to be a Lacto-Ovo vegetarian as a child. They also were anti-Vaxers which meant I didn't have any vaccinations ever as a child. My first vaccination was required by law at age 15 when I was bitten by a dog on a job  that I was working on with my father which was a tentanus shot. I didn't get any other vaccinations until I went to India and Nepal when I was 37 years old for 6 months with my family.

The point I'm trying to make here is that logic and pragmatism along with compassion for yourself and all others is the basis of life in civilizations around the world. If you study religions (comparative religions) you see that there is a version of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" in all religions around the world.

So, compassion (at least towards adherents of the same religion) is true around the world in all religions including Buddhism which Christians often don't consider to be a religion because it's basis isn't necessarily about God or Gods.

So, when you can apply compassion and logic and reason to your enlightenment you can really get somewhere and create the balance necessary to live a really long time in your life and to become relatively happy.

NOTE: Life is never perfect but it can be really nice sometimes too!

So, working towards your enlightenment raises the chances for happiness in your life here on earth.
