I was watching "The 3rd episode of the third season of "The White Lotus" and saw one of the characters in the show buying Cannibis and wondered if it had become legal since I was there in 1985 and 1986 with my family. At that time 85 and 86 basically they would lock you up and throw away the key then for Cannabis or anything else then and many Americans then never returned to the U.S. because of this at that time because of this. So, I wondered if it was just "Made up" for the series or whether it was true?
At the time this wasn't the most surprising thing about Thailand. What to me was the most surprising in 1985 and 1986 was that you could rent a beautiful young woman in any hotel or guest house you stayed in in Thailand for a month or more who would be like your wife for a month or more. This to me was the most surprising thing. I met a young man in his 20s from the U.S. who was renting? a beautiful girl to take care of him and wash his clothes and cook for him and to take care of literally all his needs while there then and I found this the most surprising thing I saw there in 1985 and 1986. We were there in December 1985 and then again in Bangkok in April of 1986 on our way back home from India and Nepal. We spent 2 months in India and 2 months in Nepal my family and I from December of 1985 until April of 1986. I and my then wife were 37 years old then as of 1985 when we traveled to Japan, Thailand, Nepal and India then with our children then 10 to 14 years of age. Since they were home schooled from 1980 to 1985 this wasn't surprising to them to keep studying as we traveled there to Asia. They were and are all self starters so they aren't victim Robots like many children are around the world from public schools.
One of my College professors called public schools reformatories and baby sitters but not really educating our children. I agree with him. So, unless you want to be a factory robot like person you do not want to be going to a public school. But, it is better than nothing so you can get into college and find yourself worldwide. People who never travel outside of the U.S. are thought of as ignorant especially by Europeans and Asians. I also agree with this from personal experience. I think only 1/3 of Americans even have passports which is really sad. This means that 2/3 of Americans haven't been outside or their state or the U.S. mainland usually.
