Let's say you had 1 million dollars in the STock Market in 2009 at 6900 approximately (the stock market value then)

Then you rode it up to 49,000 recently. (But, it's in the 37,000 Range today)

Your 1 million dollars would have been around 4 million dollars last Fall if you were invested in Blue chip Stocks.and your Dividends would likely be paying you around 42,500 per year annually too. However, they would have been about 1/2 that possibly in 2009. But, now you would be earning likely in the range of 42,500 dollars in dividends every year. So,  likely your dividends in 2009 would have been around 20,000 dollars a year then and 42,500 dollars a year now as your blue chips stocks accrued in value.

(by the way this is only an estimate if you were a long term investor in 2009 and each portfolio would be slightly different depending upon your luck as an investor.)

So, if your dividends were between 20,000 in 2009 and 42,500 dollars per year in 2025 then yearour average return that you would then owe capital Gains taxes on your investment would be around 30,000 dollars average dividends per year.

Then you would multiply the average 30,000 dollars per year divivdends by about 15 for the approximately 15 years since 2009 which would be 450,000 dollars dividend income approximately since 2009.

So, during this time your investment quadrupled in size from 1 million to 4 million dollars AND your dividend income earned you 450,000 dollars during that time too.

So, your gain from 2009 to 2025 at 49,000 under Biden was 3 million 450,000 dollars through a blue chip investment of 1 million dollars in 2009.

So, your 1 million dollar investment into blue chips stocks earned you about 450% interest during this time from 2009 until 2025 (at least on paper) when the stock market reached 49,000 under Biden.

So, basically a 1 million dollar investment in 2009 into Blue Chip Stocks could have earned you 3 million 450,000 dollars in actual value and dividends from 2009 until the market reach 49,000 under Biden.

But, now, under Trump the market is only 77% of what it was under Biden.

So, this is a factor now too worldwide as stocks tank likely a lot further this week worldwide because of Trump's idiocy.
