One of my Tibetan Lama Teachers was from Kham Tibet

His name was Geshe Lobsang Gyatso. However, because this is a spiritual title in some ways similar to a Doctor of Divinity from a University in the Gelugpa Tradition (The Dalai Lama is Gelukpa) by the way. Also there are Kagyu and Nyingma and other sects of Tibetan Budhism as well. Padmasambhava I believe started the Nyingma sect around 700 AD and others came after. I think the Kagyu Lineage Came from Marpa the translator and then through Milarepa around 1100 AD also.

So, if you are thinking about this then if you were relating this to Christianity the Nyingma might be like the Catholics and then the ones later might be like Protestant religions sort of but also Christian and believing in most of the same things.

One of the things I found very helpful that Geshela (an endearing name for a Geshe (which means Spiritual Friend) and Geshes are apart of the Gelugpa Tradition of the Dalai Lamas Sect too.

One of the thing he shared was: "We are all like Threads in a handkerchief so as these threads that we are like start to move upwards into heaven we draw all our friends and relatives into heaven with us."

So, the next time you have a hankerchief pick it up from any point where there is a thread and watch the whole handkerchief ascend into heaven from whichever enlightened thread you pick up with your fingers.

It's a good meditation and reason to become enlightened not only for yourself but also for everyone you know or meet throughout your lives that you draw up into heaven with you.

Note: When I went to the Kalachakra initiation of I think 4 or 5 days in 1985 in December in Bodhgaya with the Dalai Lama and 500,000 devotees  there I found out that there are many Geshe Lobsang Gyatsos not just one. However, the one I knew and was taught a lot by passed on the early 2000s so my family and friends knew him in India and Nepal and in Santa Cruz and in Nevada City where he was the most here in the U.S. giving teaching and Pujas and Initiations. He was known for Long Life White Tara initiation the most.
