The drive seemed okay at the time but today I was pretty exhausted and slept pretty late even for me being mostly retired. I wanted to fix the top plates I had ordered for around 159 Dollars (1 16 foot piece of Timber Tech wood) (which weighs a ton by the way compared to wood) which also included 50 dollars or more just from screws that you have to buy enough of for them to sell you at all from the lumber yard where I ordered it from. I started working on it today and realized my back was bothering me and then our housekeeper came and she was having some problems in her family too (on top of finding out my first wife) (was in the hospital but luckily was released after being on oxygen for awhile there) (We are still Friends even though we haven't lived together since the summer of 1977 when my son was 3 years old). Then I became a single father for several years before I married again around 1980.
So, today was sort of difficult for me because I just wasn't feeling right. My wife wanted me to get my 4 wheel drive truck smogged because the due date is getting near for California licensing of a vehicle for us so I said I didn't feel good enough to drive today but I would ride along with her if she wanted to drive there. Then we got there and it wasn't very busy so they approved our smog check in about 20 minutes which was nice. Then we went to In and Out Burger which my wife likes and I got a grilled cheese sandwich without onions and she got a burger and fries. Then we came home and this pretty much was my day so far.
Traveling can take more out of me than when I was younger at age 77. It took me about a week to recover physically from traveling to Mt. Shasta at this age where I felt myself again. However, when you have time to recover like I do traveling (at least between points in California Oregon, WAshington and Hawaii still works pretty good for me.
However, when i wanted to go to Europe for the birth of my latest Grand daughter my oldest daughter said, "Dad. I don't want to have to worry about you dying over here or going into the hospital while I'm trying to give birth."
So, I honored her request and didn't go to Europe where she lives a lot of the time now with her husband who is a lawyer there.
Anyway, She and her husband came and visited (he had 3 weeks maternity leave that he hadn't been given yet so he could come here while being paid for working (this happens in Europe which is nice).
He then had to go back for business and she stayed a couple of month and visited friends and relatives and spent a lot of time with us in the SF Bay Area where we live most of the time and Santa Barbara where our family has a house inherited from my wife's mother too. So, it was wonderful to spend so much time with my daughter after not seeing her for about 1 1/2 years because she was living in Europe with her husband.
Life goes on. On one level we have a daughter in Texas, a son in Oregon and my oldest daughter in Europe and our adopted daughter whose family spent Easter with us in Santa Barbara that live in San Diego County here in California.
Our family have always been world travelers and we like the adventure of traveling to new places a lot so I'm not surprised that my children are literally all over the world. However, I also miss them a lot when I'm not with them too.
But, I was traveling all the time too when I was younger as much as I could afford to then.
By God's Grace
