What had actually happened is that someone (some vehicle) had hit a white roadside sign but also had dislodged huge pieces of Cement into the cement drain system on this very steep paved road. This then caused the water to build up and go up into the air and come down and this caused like a waterfall effect on the ground. This then built up a little lake on the far side of the road from our house and then this caused water to undermine the paved road in front of our house going up the hill. So, unless this is fixed soon by someone (city, County, or someone else) this is going to fully undermine this road when the next dump truck or Cement mixer drives up it within the next few weeks especially if we get another Atmospheric River.
There is damage all over Santa Barbara especially in the Montecito area because of the 10 inches of rain that fell within just a few hours last weekend.
Our Landscaper told us he witnessed the problem when the water was coming down full force of the rooster tail of water going up into the air and coming down sort of like a waterfall and undermining the road below from hitting the cement chunks knocked into the cement drain culvert.
