Because even though it might be onerous for AI companies to adhere to the states laws, the people of each state likely would be much better protected from the Dangers of AI.
However, I could see large Companies that are researching AI bucking this need of states to regulate AI to keep their citizens of those states alive.
Big AI companies are not really concerned about the coming deaths from AI they are concerned only about making money.
So, if states cannot protect their citizens from AI, Who Will?
Already there are countless suicides caused by AI among young people and the emotionally and psychologically vulnerable of all ages.
AI needs to be regulated by the states to stop all these suicides caused by AI.
