Because it is the essence of asking real questions about life.
Often in Churches you are forbidden to ask questions about anything.
So, this become sort of a fairy tale people tell each other so they don't run screaming off a cliff and die when someone they love: Father, mother, Sister, Brother, Lover dies.
So, religion from my point of view is primarily a way to not kill yourself when someone you love dies.
This is what religion has always been about mostly forever into the past.
It's about believing in things to stay alive for your tribe or group or culture mostly.
It's about not killing people of your same belief system.
So, being able to ask real questions and not be beat up or killed for asking these questions is really really important to one's long term survival in life.
For example, I look at people who stayed in my childhood religion and the religion killed many of them very young either directly or indirectly.
Whereas for me life was never about Fear.
Life was about learning to be happy with yourself and finding ways to make other people happy too.
Being miserable just brings and early death to people. This I noticed from about 1950 onward.
This being miserable like most people were in the 1950s especially I wanted no part of at all.
Why?
Because Misery only brings a very young death either mentally or emotionally or physically.
Misery is the following statement true of most people until around 1900:
"Born died 20 buried 60"
In fact this was on many gravestones of people in the past and all the way into the present sometimes too.
Born died 20 buried 60.
I didn't want this I wanted something better and fortunately I found something much better through not being afraid to actually live my life on my own terms with God's help!
By God's Grace
