Firefighters Respond to Brush Fire Off Farren Road in Goleta

Deputies and firefighters are responding to a vegetation fire in the 900 block of Farren Road near Winchester Canyon on Tuesday evening, May 19, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and public dispatch reports.
The Sheriff’s Office said Farren Road is closed at Verda Del Padre and urged the public to avoid the area and make way for first responders.
PulsePoint indicated the fire was reported around 8:24 p.m., with numerous fire resources on scene and continuing to respond.
Watch Duty reported that an evacuation warning has been requested for the neighborhood off and around Farren Road; however, the Sheriff’s Office has not issued any evacuation notices as of this time.
However, around 9:15 p.m., Watch Duty reported that firefighters were able to get a hose around the fire and forward progress was stopped.
This is a developing story. Officials advise residents nearby to stay alert for updates from Santa Barbara County Fire and the Sheriff’s Office.
