Differences in Religions are primarily cultural

From Studying comparative religions I have had hours to talk with experts on the subject and my best friend that is still alive has a Master's degree in History of Religion from UCLA. We both agree that most of the actual important differences in religions are mostly about cultural things.

In other words Muslims and in the Jewish Religion don't eat pigs primarily because in the desert you cannot preserve the meat long enough to not get sick in that climate before refrigeration. So, the tradition of Pigs being "Unclean" and bad by both religions comes from not getting sick and dying from spoiled pig meat in the deserts when refrigeration didn't exist.

There is really no reason beyond staying alive that this rule exists for either religion.

You will find these kinds of differences in religions coming from just trying to get people to stay alive when they have never been to school at all as the reason why certain rules are the way they are worldwide.

Because in essence all religions believe basically in "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

This is somewhat of a universal truth because otherwise religions would be a war all the time. As it is religions have been at war a lot anyway over much less important things. But, usually it is factions within the same religion that fight each other the most.

For example, historically Christians have killed tons more Christians than they have killed other religions.

And the same with Muslims have killed many more Muslims than they have Christians always too.

And even in the present proxy wars in the Middle East many more Muslims of all sects are dying than Christians ever would simply because there are so few Christians in the Middle East relatively speaking to begin with.
