I saw the smoke in the distance as the Lilac fire started around 11 am today

I wouldn't have thought that this could have been Fallbrook from where I was in Rancho Bernardo to the East and South of Fallbrook and Bonsall. If I had guessed where the fire was I would have said San Marcos because that was the direction more it looked like to me. To the north of where I was looking is Escondido up the Interstate 15 that if you take it all the way it goes up to Riverside and San Bernadino, Victorville and finally Las Vegas in Nevada which is the route everyone takes who drives form Los Angeles or San Diego towards Las Vegas. I have driven this way many times in past years to see the shows in Las Vegas. If you go there don't Miss La Rev by the way if it is still there just because of the mind boggling stunts they do in La Rev.

What is amazing about the Lilac Fire that started at the intersection of Interstate 15 and Hiway 76 is the winds and the lack of humidity right now. IT is at an unheard of (this is a record by the way) of a 269 index, whereas extreme fire danger is at about 160 and this is 100 points even beyond that. The weather person was saying something about how they were at minus 15 at some points in humidity? This appears to be called a minus 15 dew point. This doesn't make any sense to me either but this appears to be what they said. Anyway, most of San Diego County right now is between about 7% humidity and 15% humidity the last I checked but it could be minus 15 someplace like Borrego springs right now in the deserts.
So, this is why this fire could even theoretically burn straight through oceanside to the ocean (if no one was able to stop it). So, thousands of firemen are rushing here from various states to try to stop this fire before it burns up the city of Oceanside because it has already burned up most of Bonsall, California already and is starting to burn up homes in Oceanside right now as of 8:39pm Thursday night December 7th 2017.
The other serious problem is Oceanside and Fallbrook borders Camp Pendleton marine Base as well. So, some shoots of the fires could burn into Camp Pendleton which is why many military helicopters are involved in rescuing people all night who get trapped in various places by the fire because they have night vision and flying at night capabilities unlike most other fire suppression aircraft at present.
