This movie was made in 1997. Over the years I have watched it several times. I find myself once again TIVOing it with my DVR and watching it once again. I think this is expertly done as a movie. It juxtaposes a young man with military training who has moved over to being a hit man for hire, who now goes to a psychologist and tells him about being a hit man. The psychologist feels threatened and so doesn't out the hit man. The hit man (John Cusack) now about 28 years old goes to his high School reunion and re-meets his high school Sweetheart who he jilted 10 years ago who has had no idea what happened to him for 10 years. If this movie and premise isn't funny I don't know what is.
However, what I like best about this movie is just how funny and crazy it is. It reminds me a lot
of how unexpectedly crazy and unique life can be only in sort of a cartoon way.
So, I am comforted by the humor of the movie on multiple levels. Dan Akroyd also is sort of a bad guy in this movie as well. This movie is funny and outrageous from beginning to end. Great movie!
This movie to me is a commentary on just how crazy life can actually be for many or most people.
