This looks a lot more like the Republican Party fragmenting out of existence or exploding into at least two different parties more than anything else. I think the tea party might get kicked out of the Republican Party after this fools errand. Or we may be witnessing the end of the Republican party entirely. I'm not sure at this point.

It reminds me a lot of the Republican party trying to commit suicide but shooting themselves in the foot instead. But like I said October 17th could be the end of the Republican party if this goes along into that.

My father and Grandfather were Republicans and so was I until I felt betrayed by Nixon, so I'm sad to see this happen to the GOP. Though I haven't agreed with them very much since Nixon resigned, still I think their point of view most of the time was a necessary counterpoint to the excesses of the Democratic party. But now, the Republican party with the tea party in it appears to have gone insane. I think the tea party won't be a part of the Republican party after October the way things are presently going. Either that or the Republican Party is going to Fragment right out of existence by Christmas. Hopefully it doesn't take the whole U.S. Government with it out of existence if that happens.

For you living outside the U.S. there is a bloodless war going on. It isn't really between Obama and the Republicans (though people might like you to think that). Instead we are witnessing friendly fire between different types of Republicans. And the likely victim will either be the tea party faction or the whole Republican party because Republicans have always been white people. "Of the white people, by the white people and for the white people." It's always been this way since before I was born. Democrats have always been the all inclusive party whereas the Republicans have always been the exclusively white party always. But, now whites are a minority in the U.S. Because of this the Republicans cannot expect to ever win a Presidential election ever again. The smartest of them know this. So, what is happening is a form of the Tea Party trying to create "A White Dictatorship" of America in the frustration of knowing there never will be another classical white Republican President ever because of changing demographics. You are watching the suicide of the GOP in some ways on a national and international stage and it is very sad to watch for everyone in the U.S. and on Earth.
Hopefully, the fragmentation of the Republican Party doesn't destroy the U.S. government.
That wouldn't be good for the U.S. or the world.
