Bergdahl incident seems to be bringing out the worst in everyone

I really can't believe the Republican right in regard to the Bergdahl story. This guy (however he got there) survived 5 years as a Taliban prisoner (something most of us couldn't do and be sane or alive doing) and now people want to hang him from the nearest tree for this. I can't believe the right is so small minded to not welcome a U.S.  soldier (any soldier) back from 5 years imprisonment that even John McCain (who also survived 5 or more years as a north Vietnamese prisoner during the Viet Nam) war might not have survived.

I have much less respect for our nation and the Republican party in general after seeing just how small minded some of them really are.

Here is the latest disgusting event:

MSNBC's Chuck Todd Explodes at Joe Scarborough Over Criticism of Bowe Bergdahl's Father (Video)

The Wrap

Chuck Todd and Joe Scarborough sniped at each other on Thursday's “Morning Joe” about the controversy surrounding Bowe Bergdahl's parents actions in reaching out to pro-Taliban fighters.
“Wait, Joe, don't criticize the parents,” Todd said. “Don't criticize the parents that are missing a child. Their son is missing for five years. You know what? It is not logical… I'm not backseat driving how someone parents.”
“Who wants to wait me here,” Scarborough snapped. “I can criticize parents that have reached out to the Taliban. Oh my God, Chuck!”
“That are missing a child?” Todd asked.
“If my son is out on the wire, and he is out there with fellow troops, and he writes me up and says he hates America and he's thinking about deserting and he's thinking about leaving his post, I can tell you as a father of that 26-year-old or 23-year-old son, I'd say, ‘Joey, you stay the hell right there,'” Scarborough said. “I'd call his commander. I would say, ‘Get my son, he is not well. Get him to a military base in Germany.’ I would not say, ‘Follow your conscience son.’ I would not reach out to the voice of jihad.”
“Any good father would not tell their son to follow their conscience and leave men and women on the line!” Scarborough added.
“So he's a bad father?” Todd asked.
“Yes he is!” Scarborough said.

All the people that are talking heads were not there. Whatever happened only Bergdahl knows (if he remembers it after his PTSD from being harmed in various ways). So, whatever happened he was still an American soldier that needed to be brought home before the Taliban cut or sawed his head off on Youtube.com while he was likely screaming from the pain for the world to see. Also, all the 5 guys released were "enemy combatants" that would have had to be released after the war anyway. This way we actually saved someone's life (an American Soldier's) in the process.
