This movie was a breakthrough movie like Snow White, and Pinocchio. IN fact, even though Walt Disney didn't break even at first with Bambi, the end result was that hunters were forced throughout the U.S. to stop shooting does and only were allowed to shoot bucks, because one buck can impregnate many does (if one is left alive). This way deer didn't go extinct by now here in the U.S. from hunters shooting does. I first saw this movie in a theater in 1952 when I was 4. It scared the hell out of me because his Mommy was shot dead by hunters. Even Stephen King says this is the single scariest movie he ever saw in his life. However, the deer species are still doing quite well specifically because of this movie in 1942. They didn't go extinct because of Bambi.
