How has the U.S. Succeeded since the 1950s?

I would say the single biggest success is helping create a worldwide Middle Class that is well educated and capable and ready to work anywhere worldwide.

I would say it's biggest failure is killing it's own middle class since the Reagan Union busting times of the 1980s.

By starting to kill our own middle class with the one two punch of Reagan Union busting combined with Globalization through worldwide Internet business being conducted, our own middle class has suffered and paid the price for the successful middle class throughout most of the rest of the world.

This worldwide educated middle Class mentored and fostered by U.S. investment since World War II, however, has prevented any major wars between the largest powers ever since then except proxy wars until the 1990s with the old Soviet Union.

Now we are suffering a new type of proxy war between Shiites and Sunnis throughout the middle east. The champions of the Shiites are Iran, Iraq and Assad in Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Champions for the Sunnis are ISIS and Saudi Arabia and all other Sunni ruled nations.

But, never the less, the U.S. biggest success is in the education and fostering and mentoring of the biggest middle class that the world has ever known or may ever know right now.

And the sacrifice was of our own middle class to do this.

However, unless we find a way to turn this around, the U.S. might actually become a third world nation within the next 50 years.

Because without a very strong middle class of well educated people our system of government won't work any more very well at all.

So, unless we focus on our own middle class now, rather than focusing on the rest of the world, our country is over along with the U.S. infrastructure which is crumbling more every single day. Look at your roads, bridges and other infrastructure. How safe do you feel going over rusting bridges on your highways and freeways every day. Have you seen how many homes and areas have blown up from 1880s to 1930s gas mains blowing up? Infrastructure and the Middle Class.

Without both we are over.

We have succeeded since the 1941 in saving the whole world. Now we have to save our middle class so our government can continue to function along with rebuilding our infrastructure for the next century.
