Only 3 Category 5 storms hitting the U.S. have ever been recorded

In the United States, only three Category 5 storms that made landfall have been recorded, Mr. Feltgen said: a 1935 hurricane that killed more than 400 people; Hurricane Camille, which hit Mississippi and killed 244 people in 1969; and Hurricane Andrew, which hit Florida in 1992, killing at least 10 people there and three others in the Bahamas.
But Hurricane Patricia is “uncharted territory,” Jim Cantore, a meteorologist with The Weather Channel, said on Twitter.

Hurricane Patricia, Category 5 Storm, Threatens Mexico

The last category 5 storm that packed this much punch and hit land was Hurricane Haiyan which hit about a year ago in the Philippines.

Also, Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel also said, "God Help the people in the path of this hurricane" as well, which means this could be a very life threatening hurricane because Haiyan killed around 7000 people when it came ashore in the Philippines. The thing that most killed people there was the flooding. I watched video on CNN at the time of water coming up to people's necks inside of buildings, roofs blowing off and trees blowing away at that time. So, to survive people had to go to the second story if there was one and just hope the roof didn't blow off. Whole areas were unrecognizable after homes and businesses completely washed away with all trees down. This is the type of storm we are looking at here as well.
