When mammals are overpopulating an area (any area) often they stop being able to have children (until they move to a less populated area). This is true of all or most mammals including humans.
So, part of China's low fertility rate is overpopulation itself.
Then, you have to add pollution in the environment which can cause low fertility also. Then you have to add pollution in food from a variety of sources. So, in the highest populated areas where food is grown, the way the food is treated by unscrupulous people bent on profit (much like in the U.S.) causes low fertility and death. HOwever, our system is less corrupt than Chinas so we actually have things like the FDA to help our food be a little safer.
However, went I went to South Korea for example, the quality of the food was much higher there than in the U.S. because there is a sense of honor around growing food and feeding their nation more than people here have. (At least more than Farming conglomerates tend to have here in the U.S.). There are still good farmers at a family level here in the U.S. but more and more they cannot compete with Farming conglomerates in regard to how cheap something is. But, for people who are willing to pay for organic vegetables and organic meats fed organically, you can get good food here in the U.S.
And since I know an American who moved to China to become an organic farmer there I know some farmers there are organically motivated too.
So, as farmers everywhere stop using herbicides and pesticides more, more people around the world will be healthy and less people will die from cancer and other diseases.
As people eat better (by not eating GMO foods) that make them sterile after 2 generations of too many GMOS, the wealthier more educated and better fed people will still be able to have children worldwide.
Whereas poorer less educated people won't be able to have children at all worldwide if they are eating GMOS within 20 to 40 years from now.
This is just a fact of life for us all here on earth.
Does this mean only the rich will survive?
NO. It means only the educated will be able to breed.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
