Why is this?
Because he has succeeded in pissing off every Sunni Muslim on earth by now. And can he stand up to every Sunni Muslim on earth that wants him out of office and dead?
Think about this for a moment. There are 1.2 billion Sunni Muslims in the world.
He might be okay for a day, a week, a year or two or 5 years. But sooner or later they will find a way to drive him out of office as leader of Syria. Will he die there? Unlikely. But, until they drive him out he is there.
Can Russia and Iran save Assad and his government?
Only in the short run. IN the long run someone else will lead. However, there isn't anyone I know of in the whole world outside of ISIS that thinks that ISIS should lead Syria. So, most people also would do almost anything to prevent ISIS owning and leading all of Syria.
And the real problem RIGHT NOW is it is ONLY Assad or ISIS who will Lead Syria at present.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
