Heading to Mt. Shasta

Today I realized was the last day before a big storm hit Northern California. So, the 80 degree temperatures a lot of places (Fahrenheit) were going to go away for awhile at least. So, in the beautiful spring like weather I drove north on Interstate 5 from the San Francisco area through blooming Almonds and cherry trees which were very beautiful indeed to see all in bloom. I think the white blossoms are almonds and the pink blossoms are cherry trees.

As I got above Sacramento I began to see more signs of the storm coming that is supposed to dump about 2 feet of new snow at Bunny Flats (around 7000 feet in altitude) over the next 4 days or so. So, the skiing should be good all over the mountain after that so people even outside the ski lift won't have to worry about landing in ice and maybe getting cut by it when they fall that is caused by the sun causing the top layer to melt a little and then to crust into ice  over the night. When this happens a lot if the snow isn't groomed like in a Ski park for easier skiing and softer falls you can easily get injured on this ice if you fall. So, you want some new snow on top for a cushion when you fall if you fall down in the process of skiing because when snow first falls it is a softer fall usually, especially in powder snow. But then if you fall down you want your face covered so you don't choke on the powder snow when breathing.

By Red Bluff and Redding I could really see the storm now coming in and the sun was blotted out so I finished driving to Mt. Shasta and had dinner with friends there.
