In William Shakespeare's time, conversation meant two things, conversation and sex

The ability to talk to those you are attracted to in life might enable you to have relationships with the people you want or not (depending upon many different factors).

In my own case my mother and grandmother trained me specifically to be a gentleman around all the ladies. So, by the time I was 15 I was shy and reserved but also listened to whatever women around me said. I listened to girls and women's problems. And by listening once in a while I would give them suggestions in regard to their lives. They appreciated my thoughtful suggestions and sometimes these girls or women (as I grew up and older) became my girlfriends or wives. This continued to some degree throughout my life. So, conversation is necessary to make your life work properly in every direction. So, though I was very shy growing up I found I could talk to women much easier than I could talk to boys or men.

Men I found more difficult because I never knew exactly when I might need to fight one or confront one. So, men were difficult for me to deal with because of testosterone. But, women I could almost always talk to and this made all the difference in my life ongoing. Of course I had male friends but I'm not a competitive sports kind of person. Instead I prefer mountain climbing, off road motorcycles, Skiing downhill and cross country and traveling all over the world. So, my idea of a good time I share with a few friends and my wife and kids as we travel the world together through the years.

But, if I look back it all came down always to the art of conversation, of listening to people's problems and sometimes offering thoughtful suggestions. From this type of conversation came all aspects of my life now which is mostly very good and always has been.
