First strange event: a fighter plane shoots down a military helicopter in Istambul
2nd strange event: Erdogan is out of capital and only has a cell phone to contact anyone because he is on vacation.
the 3rd strange event is soldiers being arrested by Police. The police are loyal to Erdogan but the Army is not.
The line soldiers (privates and corporals being arrested) likely are giving up because they don't want to shoot the unarmed populace. Also, they might not support the coup even though at some point they might be punished by the army who created the coup.
4th thing is soldiers shooting demonstrators on the Istambul bridge.
