The Cleveland Chief of Police begged the Governor of Ohio to temporarily suspend the "Open Carry" law for Cleveland during the GOP Convention there to protect police and citizens from being shot. However the Ohio governor says he doesn't have the legal authority to suspend it.
So, it looks like if there is one crazy shooter armed and ready to die more people may die during the convention anyway.
This is really really stupid for police and citizens both to have to deal with this insanity!
Does President Obama have the legal authority to declare Martial law for Cleveland in this situation so the open carry would be temporarily suspended at least for the convention?
If the Governor doesn't have legal authority does the president?
I'm thinking if the Governor begged emergency status for Cleveland to declare martial law to protect police and government leaders and general citizens life and limb it would be honored by the president of the United States.
But, likely the Speaker of the House might need to be involved as well as the Senate majority leader as well for this to be successful.
