As ISIS is defeated in Syria and Iraq and the Islamic State there goes away, it is reincarnating in a different form now in Turkey as the Islamic State of Turkey and a reneweal of the ancient Sunni Caliphate the Turkey once was through Erdogan. So, watching all this unfold nauseates lovers of Secular democracy around the world as the Secular democracy that Turkey once was morphs now into the Sunni Islamic State and Caliphate of Turkey in a de facto way.
The world does not have the background (generally speaking) to understand that the institutions that preserved a secular democracy are all being destroyed one by one by Erdogan. AT this point it doesn't matter whether Erdogan actually caused this coup in Turkey or not. What is important now is that the Turkish secular Democracy is dying and being replaced with something similar to IRan is now except that this will become a Sunni Islamic State instead of a Shia ISlamic State like Iran is now.
Will Iran take advantage of this time of weakness of Turkey to attack them while they go through this conversion?
That's hard to say.
But, what is easy to say is that Turkey as a secular democratic state was not a direct threat to Iran before but as a Sunni Islamic State it will become a direct threat like Saudi Arabia already is to Iran.
