Here are some pictures from Glacier Point from Google Images. I was here there today with my older daughter and my wife. I think it's around 7000 feet in elevation. You look across a canyon of Granite towards Half Dome from Glacier point. This is also where they did the Firefall I saw several times in the 1960s when I was a boy and young man. I realized today I likely hadn't been to this exact spot (even though I got married here in the 1990s), most of the times since about 1985 I don't think I returned to Glacier point since 1985 when we were preparing for Asia (India, Nepal, Thailand, Japan). At that time my now ex-wife and older children went to Asia in December 1985 and we returned in April 1986. It was sort of like going to another planet more than anything else and none of us have ever been the same since. Sometimes it was like being 1000 or 2000 years ago and sometimes it was just funny or scary. any way you look at it it was the worst culture shock coming home, much much worse than going into India from Nepal into Bihar then around Christmastime 1985. I couldn't believe how much worse the culture shock was coming home than even going there then. Amazing!
There is an author who says "You can't go home again". It's what happens to world travelers who immerse themselves in cultures they visit (usually over 1 month's time or more).
Also, the top right picture those railings if you lean over you are looking straight down 3000 to 4000 feet straight down! So, if you have vertigo be careful standing too close to the edge. Hang onto the rails. Also, I have been up the wires onto the top of Half dome which are the opposite side of what you are looking at now at half dome. also, you have to get a permit to go up it now because there are too many people wanting to climb it otherwise. Also, people get vertigo often coming down the wires because it is so very steep (35% to 45% angle coming down the wires at some points).
