This is the undercurrent since the last Bush was elected. Remember the last Bush lost the popular vote.
Gore actually won the popular vote for president in 2000 by far. The Supreme court had to put in Bush or he wouldn't have been president.
It's much much worse now because of all the old Republicans who have died who are white. And they are not being replaced.
Now, Trump was the last best hope as uneducated Blue collar whites (who have never voted for anyone before) registered to vote as Republicans for the first time. But, long time Republicans are very very unhappy with Trump. But, they are thinking "Any Port in a Storm!" (at least some of them are). But, as Trump sounds more and more like a lunatic who is going to nuke the whole world out of existence in some ego tantrum, more old time Republicans realize voting for Trump is also suicidal for America. So, they are caught in a really tough bind.
