In the last 5 days we have been to Yosemite, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. I'm a little burnt out from all the driving at this point even though we spent two nights in Las Vegas at one of the big hotels on the strip there and went to see O which is a Cirque du Soleil performance the night before last there. One of the more amazing experiences for me was the drive from Lee Vining to Beatty, Nevada. We did this the right time of day because the temperatures weren't that bad in the late afternoon or evening. I think it was hiway 120 to 264 to 95 to Beatty. However, what I found difficult was around 200 miles without even a gas station on this route. We were running on fumes into Beatty, Nevada where we finally found a gas station. And even that one if we had come 1/2 hour later we wouldn't have been able to buy gas even then.
However, it was nice to experience not seeing a human being (or a car) (or a building) for up to 1/2 hour at a time and no houses visible either sometimes for 20 to 50 miles along the way as we drove.
This was a very incredible experience for this day and age even though I had this experience a lot in the 1950s with my Dad and Mom in California, Nevada, Arizona and elsewhere in the western states then.
Yes. It was hiway 120,264, 266, then 95 to Beatty, and then south to Las Vegas past the old now abandoned Area 51.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
