I remember being in the 1960s when people were like this too in some ways. And it's mostly about idealistic college age kids who haven't become pragmatic yet. It's a sign of one's 20s where you don't know what is possible to do and what isn't (at least yet). So, practicality is missing in what they want so because of this what they want is unlikely to happen from a very pragmatic point of view.
I remember being idealistic in my 20s and it nearly cost me my life. But, luckily I survived until 25 when my girlfriend got pregnant and I had to get serious about raising my son so he could have a good life. This basically ended my idealism and brought on pragmatism without which neither my son or I would be around now.
And unfortunately, without pragmatism people don't survive unless their parents are supporting them financially in their idealism. So, you mostly don't see this idealism in people who survive past 30. Because if you don't survive you are not around anymore.
If you don't survive because you are too idealistic what's the point of that?
Unless you survive first, idealism is a joke and a bad one at that.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
