Just like before World War I and before the Spanish Flu there was a different normal and before World war II and after world war II there were different normals and even every decade sort of had its own normal too, what we have now is a new normal of young people feeling relatively immortal (like they always have) and I was one of these too until I was around 30 to 40 myself so I recognize the false feelings of immortality too.
I would say people under 40 are less cautious than they actually need to be and people over 50 generally are about as cautious as they need to be to make it into old age for the most part.
The exception to this is people mentally ill or people who are religious in an extreme way which pushes out all concepts of science.
Because in the end, with pandemics still happening worldwide through multiple variants, unless you believe in medical Science you might not survive all this whether you believe in God or not.
For example, about every month or two my wife likes to have our corgi washed bathed and clipped etc. She was busy so she tasked me with picking up our dog from the groomer's. I was surprised to see everyone working there (about 10 or 12 people) with only one person wearing a mask. This surprised me a lot especially here in California. I thought about this a little and realized that it likely was hot working there washing and cleaning and bathing and clipping dogs all day so a mask might not work for you working in these conditions and the people working there all looked to be under 30 to 40 years of age which is the age of thinking you are immortal and more healthy than you might really be in actuality.
