Somehow China was able to force it's population not to get Covid (at least publicly this is what happened) . What happened really is probably another story entirely like away from the biggest cities in China.
However, the inevitable happened. China just got completely screwed just like the rest of the world by Omicron.
What happens now?
I think China is going to have to think of another strategy that might work better than Zero Covid which isn't going to work with Omicron and likely will create a worst disaster than Omicron has already created and help destroy the Chinese economy. So, I presently believe the Zero Covid strategy is likely only going to make things 10 times worse for China.
However, the lack of antibodies means there is no immunity at all right now in most Chinese citizens which is a completely horrific thing to contemplate for the Chinese economy and for government stability ongoing through all of this.
So, what will China do?
I think maybe looking at what is working in other countries might be helpful for China to think about right now.
Omicron is a disaster worldwide but it could be the last variant if we are lucky.
We will just have to see what variants do or do not do now.
And hope for the best.
