The Covid response of China actually worked until Omicron when it no longer did.
I think the whole world needs to look at this because it's important.
We all might have to learn to live with Covid in some form ongoing.
Like most of you I'm hoping Omicron is the end of a long battle but I also could be wrong.
Supposedly, Viruses don't want to kill their hosts they just want to survive and reproduce so Omicron that kills less than any other variant so far (not sure what it will do to China though with no antibodies there at all).
Anyway, logically if a virus wants to survive it doesn't kill it's hosts because then it dies with it's hosts. So, as a virus matures it tries to find ways to stay alive like Omicron has.
Everyone sort of expects Covid to be endemic now in some form just like the Spanish Flu of 1918 to 1920 became endemic and still exists now just many less people die of it now than then.
What actually is going to happen is less certain because there are many variables in place regarding all this.
So, we really don't know what direction Covid is going to take for example, in China.
For example, we could see a worse variant arising out of China out in the country because of the lack of antibodies there. This could be one response of the virus to that many vulnerable people without antibodies.
So, a worse variant coming out of the countryside in China wouldn't surprise me at all.
However, People in the rest of the world have more antibodies than people in China so it's unknown what effects it would have on people outside of China.
As you can see we live in very strange times worldwide now because of Omicron.
