As I was getting into my truck and heading for the beach for a walk. I brought my rubber jacket in case it really let loose but since it stayed a mist I realized I could just put my ski jacket on with a hood and a wool hat and be fine. My baseball cap started to blow off from the wind when I got to the beach so I put a wool cap on to stay warmer and pulled up my ski jacket hood over the wool cap.
But, I wasn't prepared for just how much the beaches had changed because about 5 feet of sand vertical had washed out from the storms and the king tides. I couldn't believe that I almost couldn't recognize the beach at all from how it was a week or so ago and boulders once 1 to 3 feet tall were now 5 to 7 to 10 feet tall so much sand had washed away from the storms hitting the beach. Luckily, the tide was way out so I had some beach to walk on part of the way. When it got sandy enough and not rocky that much I kicked off my crocs and went barefoot because I always like doing that if the weather is above 50 and not extremely windy. I like feeling the sand on my feet and sensing the life of the beach and the ocean. It's a very beautiful experience if the beach isn't dangerous to walk on from rocks and sharp shells. I saw many many chiton (angel wings) in the beach sand and many shells wash up on the beach in the storms were gathered certain places too so I kept my crocs on over the shells not to cut my feet. But, the most amazing thing was rocks 1 to 3 feet now towering out of the water often taller than I am now with so much sand washing away this time of year from the storms hitting California off the ocean now.
Here's the weather in San Francisco if you are interested:
And here's LA to our south which is about 383 miles south of SF.
