If you watch "Charlie Wilson's War (2007) starring Tom Hanks which is the true story of Congressman Charlie Wilson from Texas and his battle to get Stinger shoulder mounted missiles through the CIA to the Mujahideen and Osama Bin Laden from Congress, you find that tanks and jets and helicopters owned by the Soviet Union were no match for Anti-Tank shoulder fired missiles. This bankrupted the Soviet Union (one of many things) which resulted in the collapse of the old Soviet Union by the way.
