How to save money on Gasoline while traveling

What I learned from traveling from June 4th until now here in the state of Washington  including going up into Canada likely would be don't drive your car (unless you have to) through California or Canada. For example, in California you are going to be paying somewhere between 6 dollars to around $7.50 a gallon wherever you go for gas. But, in Nevada and Idaho and Montana and Wyoming you likely will be paying as little as $4.99 or less a gallon for Regular. Also, what we did was to buy a new car that is larger but gets better mileage than my Tundra presently does now. This allowed us to feel better even when we traveled up from Montana into Canada where gasoline (if you calculate the liters you buy there) is around $8 to $9 a gallon for gas and that is just for regular which is much higher than even California.

However, the biggest expense I find is not gasoline but what you will pay for a place to stay and for food unless you are staying with friends and relatives somewhere they live or own.

So, being realistic that gas isn't the biggest expense but rather food and shelter while you are traveling makes your trip more realistic and affordable along the way and enjoyable.

Even though my wife and I were traumatized by just barely making it out of Yellowstone before the Gardiner Road that goes north out of Yellowstone was washed away. And then the day later where we stayed along the Yellowstone river was washed away too. Then we drove through Livingston, Montana where we saw many many homes to our right of our road flooding out too with first responders there trying to help people not to drown and to evacuate. So, even though we were okay it is pretty awful to witness people losing their present lives at least for now and hopefully surviving all this (at least for now).

Global Climate changes are happening folks and almost all rivers we saw in Canada were at or near flood stage. Even going through the Border back into the U.S. the Border patrol agent told us that the Kootenay River I believe was at flood stage too and that they were worried about it locally there too as well as every river or lake we saw driving south from Lake Louise.

So, people are scared because all the rain that should be hitting California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada and New Mexico is now hitting Oregon Washington, British Columbia and Alberta and points east instead.

So, if you travel there you could also get flooded out at some point if all this unseasonable rain keeps up. However, the good part of all this is the temperatures are kind of nice from the 50s to the 70s in the Daytime. But, be prepared for anything this summer because the weather is really really crazy everywhere now worldwide, even in Europe Zurich, Switzerland has been 91 degrees Fahrenheit lately.
